Spotlight: The Austin Happy Hour Scene

It’s no secret…Austin’s happy hour scene is huge. With fast-growing food scenes in every which direction of the city, you can almost always bet you’ll find specials on delicious bites and drinks that are hard to pass up! For our first Happy Hour Spotlight this month, we feature a few of our current places for cheap eats and drinks to make the end of a workday something to look forward to.

1. Bar Peached – 1315 W 6th St
   Happy Hour: Tuesday-Sunday 4:00pm-6:30pm (bar & patio only)
   There’s no shortage of tasty snacks and cocktails during happy hour at Bar Peached. You can order draft cocktails for $6 that include a selection of spirits such as their Margarita De Peached or Yoga and Chill while munching down on Shishido peppers or their Confit Duck Fold over (highly recommend)! $6 draft cocktails, $5 draft beer, $6 wine, $5 snacks, $4 tacos, and more. 2. Better Half – 406 Walsh St
   Happy Hour: Tuesday-Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm
   $3 beer cans, $5 sangria, $5 cheeseburgers. Short. Sweet. Simple. Sure, Better Half offers a happy hour, but we do encourage checking out the full menu because the Hot Chicken Sandwich and Shrimp Torta are pretty hard to pass up! Not to mention, they also offer BISCUITS! Homestyle and available until gone. Bonus: Better Half also offers a reverse happy hour!    Happy Hour: Wednesday-Sunday 4:00pm-5:30pm
   50% off all bottles under $100 is what makes this happy hour feature extra special. You can choose a bottle from the list of offerings, pay half price, and enjoy some seriously good pies while you’re at it. With some bottles ending up crazily cheap, wine aficionados and those who just want a good glass of wine can rejoice. It allows for most people to try wines they perhaps wouldn’t otherwise. 4. Ellis – 111 Congress Ave, Bldg 2
   Happy Hour: Daily 4:00pm-6:00pm
   Situated at the corner of Second and Congress, adjacent to Foreground is cocktail lounge,
   Ellis. Opened in June of 2019, Ellis is a fairly new addition to the block. Their happy hour menu features a number of signature cocktails with great names like Hipster Culture and Dirty Money. The happy hour menu includes $2 off wines, $2 off draft beer, $2 off food, $7 rotating barrel-aged cocktails, $4 rotating frozen cocktails, and $6 for the cocktail of the day. Drinks galore! 5. Rosedale Kitchen and Bar – 3800 North Lamar
   Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4:00pm-6:00pm (bar, patio, and lounge only)
   Rosedale offers a wide variety of food on the menu with many vegetarian and gluten-free options, and it doesn’t stop there. Diners can enjoy specials on foods including smoked trout dip, burgers, and jalapeño pimento cheese. Happy hour also includes $2 off all draught beer, $6 Moscow mules, $6-11 house wines, and more. 6. Vince Young Steakhouse – 301 San Jacinto Blvd
   Happy Hour: Daily 5:00pm-7:00pm
   Conveniently located in downtown Austin, Vince Young Steakhouse offers an incredible happy hour for guests. The bar and lounge food menu is available at absurdly good prices on items such as crispy quail, beef carpaccio, roasted bone marrow, and more.
